Accounts Payable Clerk

Direct Report:

  • Accounts Payable Manager

Purpose:

  • The Accounts Payable Clerk plays a key role in the Company’s vendor invoice indexing, approval and payment processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Sort and process purchase orders, delivery tickets and invoices with high degree of accuracy relating to multiple companies and jobs
  • Meet deadlines for prior month invoice entries
  • Professionally address vendor invoice inquiries both verbally and by written email
  • Work closely with other Company departments for accurate coding and payment of invoices
  • Process selected invoice payments
  •  Verify account payable balances to monthly vendor statements
  • Monitor utility payments for reasonableness
  • Process credit card statements with verification of receipts
  • Cross training to other duties as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

Skills:

  • Experience with Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Familiarity with accounting software a plus
  • Strong attention to detail required
  • General understanding of accounting practices and principles
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written communications

Experience / Education:

  • High school diploma/GED required. (Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years accounting department experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged exposure to computer screens, mobile phone screens
  •  Visually seeing equipment operations well (either naturally or with corrective lenses)
  • Standing, stooping kneeling, squatting, climbing or sitting for long periods of time
  •  Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work
  •  Lifting 25 lb. objects as required
  • Carrying 25 lb. objects as required
  • Remaining calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments and holidays as required
